Ben Affleck’s pseudo-cowboy costume in Argo harks back to the golden age of the sports jacket. Does Japanese period costume reflect on contemporary fashion? We appraise the hipster style of Norwegian Wood. Tarantino, without the extraneous dialogue.

Prince of Persia: Interview With Costume Designer Penny Rose | Clothes on Film – Part 10220
Penny Rose, costume designer on video game adaptation Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time talks us through her intentions for the movie, including 800 year old embroidery patterns and priests dressed in bedspreads. Penny Rose has been costume designer on nearly forty films. As evidenced by her CV that includes Shadowlands (1993), Evita (1996) and The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy (2003-07), she prefers period/fantasy to contemporary and typically favours bigger budget Hollywood productions. Kurt and Bart are fascinating. Forged as art school drop outs in 1980s New York, their name is now a singular brand to movers and shakers in the media industry. Yet they are two people, two very real people: Kurt Swanson and Bart Mueller, renowned costume designers and wardrobe stylists for film, stage, TV and commercials. Since the early 2000s, Kurt and Bart have really stepped up their work costume designing film (forgive the pun but they actually did costume Step Up 3D), although runaway hit Stoker is arguably their highest profile feature yet. The jacket seems slightly too long and loose for the slenderness of the skirt; it doesn’t fit Kelly’s figure as comfortably as it might. However even with its faults the suit still reflects a vital side of Lisa’s complex personality: her professional, tailored femininity.

Anna Kendrick | Clothes on Film
Into the Woods opened on Broadway in 1987, with the music and lyrics written by Stephen Sondheim and the book by James Lapine. It is Sondheim’s most performed musical and one of his best known works. The story combines familiar characters from childhood fairy tales such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and the ubiquitous Witch, and explores their journeys to get their wish, as well as the negative consequences of the small dishonesties committed by each character to get what they want. As the witch sings, “Told a little lie/Stole a little gold/Broke a little vow/Did you?/Had to get your prince/Had to get your cow/Had to get your wish/Doesn’t…
