Sammy Sheldon | Clothes on Film
By no means intended as an exhaustive list, Clothes on Film ponder an overview of 2011 in costume. The period is swinging, but the trailer is classy. Some official images have surfaced for X-Men: First Class. The sixties costumes vibe is not excessive, however. Hit-Girl owns this film like she would own your ass if you ever stepped to her. Here are some new character posters for Kick-Ass. Peppy costume design by Sammy Sheldon.

The Woman in Black Trailer: Creepy Frock | Clothes on Film – Part 21770
A trailer for Hammer Productions’ The Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe has arrived like a sudden mist on an October morning, bringing with it that wonderful sense of dread only a Victorian setting can provide. Playing young solicitor Arthur Kipps, Radcliffe’s recently bereaved single father travels from London to a cursed village in the East Coast, its marshes haunted by sightings of a ‘woman in black’. The film, like the novel by Susan Hill and stage play of the same name, is set during an undetermined period in the 1800s. By the looks of Keith Madden’s classic, traditionally English themed costumes, probably towards the end of the century. What…

A line dress | Clothes on Film
MINOR SPOILERS First Man (2018) is not a movie overly preoccupied with fashion, And why would it be? The focus of the story is astronaut Neil Armstrong (Ryan Gosling) and his journey to become the first person to ever walk on the surface of the moon. Armstrong wears a lot of button down shirts, short sleeve checks, neutral slacks, the odd dark single breasted suit for formal occasions – largely dour attire for a dour man. He also wears a space suit, several of them. However, outside of Emilio Pucci’s involvement in designing the logo for the Apollo 15 flight in 1971, fashion rarely intersects with the requirements of surviving…

Atonement: Keira Knightley's Green Dress | Clothes on Film – Part 864
This emerald green dress from Atonement (2007) could be the most famous item of clothing on film in the last decade. In fact, rather surprisingly, it was recently voted ‘Best Costume of All Time‘ by Sky Movies and readers of In Style; surprising because, despite its multifaceted beauty, there are many other magnificent costumes out there more deserving of the title. Nonetheless this long, slinky evening gown from a mini-epic set predominately during the mid-1930s to early 40s is an extraordinary achievement. It is not only a work of art to look at; it also precisely informs the narrative. Costume designer Jacqueline Durran created the dress from scratch. Her intention…
