Snow White & the Huntsman Trailer: Atwood Hits It | Clothes on Film

Colleen Atwood does it AGAIN. Yep, no surprises that the very ‘costumey’ delights of Snow White & The Huntsman are every bit as jaw dropping as hoped. Frankly, the trailer is brilliant.

This is Snow White, but not as you know it, as Kristen Stewart steps into the lead role displaying all the grit and steely bad-ass she can muster. Even more impressive is Charlize Theron as Ravenna, the Evil Queen. Her costume swathed in lustrous gold, feathers or fur, silky superior voice echoing throughout; she may outwardly recall a certain Dior perfume advert, but with such promise as to what a vindictive vixen her jealous Queen will be. Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman also makes his mark as a kind of folky Thor in brown leather vambraces.

Costume designer Colleen Atwood, three times Oscar winner now (nine times nominated) and famed for this type of thing, will undoubtedly walk her way to further awards with Snow White & the Huntsman. Based on this very brief glimpse of her work, particularly in regards to Theron and Stewart, gradually evolving from bodice to battle armour-ready Snow White, it is obvious why.

Snow White & the Huntsman directed by Rupert Sanders is released on 1st June 2012.
