    Robin Hood: Some Pics for the Weekend | Clothes on Film

    As it is nearly the weekend, make the day disappear faster by checking out some pics from Ridley Scott’s upcoming Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. This version of ‘the Hood’ by Gladiator (2000) and Body of Lies (2008) director Ridley Scott is being touted as truth behind the famous medieval folk hero.     Winter's Bone: Rebecca Hofherr Interview | Clothes on Film

    Released mid-2010, Winter’s Bone was a deserved sleeper hit bolstered by extremely positive reviews and word of mouth. Set in the desolate, poverty stricken Ozark Mountains, USA, it tells the story of Ree (Jennifer Lawrence), a teenage girl searching for her ‘meth chef’ father after he jumps bail putting the family home at risk. Rebecca Hofherr was costume designer for Winter’s Bone. Her brief shaped by director Debra Granik’s commitment to believability and an extremely tight budget of $5,500; she created a realistic, memorable look of lived in denim, motif fleece sweaters and padded check shirts.     Movie Costumes on Display in Los Angeles | Clothes on Film

    For those of you lucky enough to live in LA or rich enough to buy a ticket and hop over some time before 30th April, literally racks of costumes have just gone on display at The FIDM Museum, including Mary Zophres’ Oscar nominated ensembles for True Grit. Taxi! This annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibition, now in its 19th year, features costumes from 20 films of 2010, including Leonardo DiCaprio as Cobb’s leather jacket and cargo slacks from Inception (designed by Jeffrey Kurland), Jake Gyllenhaal as Dastan’s body armour in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Penny Rose), Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko’s ‘shark suit’ from Wall…

    Swarovski | Clothes on Film

    To tie-in with the release of Disney’s new live-action version of Beauty and Beast, the project’s Oscar winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran teamed up with students from Central Saint Martin’s college in London to reinterpret ensembles from the film. These are outfits designed in homage to Beauty and the Beast, taking specific elements here and there, a song, colour or concept and creating something entirely new. Whether these are fashion or art pieces is ultimately unclear – what stands out though is their reach beyond that of merely marketing a big movie. Just as an idea it would be fantastic to see more films promoting their costumes in this way.……
